How to Fix Air in the Pump – Inground & Upground Pool:

1. First, check the drain plugs on the pump housing. Make sure they are tight and not leaking. You can apply some pipe thread sealant tape to the threads for a tighter seal.

    

2. Next, check the skimmer baskets and make sure they are clean. A clogged skimmer basket can cause air to be sucked into the pump.

    

3. Finally, check the filter pressure gauge. If the gauge is reading high, that means there is too much pressure in the filter and air is being forced into the system. You can try backwashing the filter to release some of the pressure.

If you have an inground pool, you can also try these tips:

First, check the main drains to make sure they are open. If they are closed, air will be trapped in the system.

Next, check the PVC pipes leading to and from the pump. Make sure they are tight and not leaking. You can apply some pipe thread sealant tape to the threads for a tighter seal.
